The birth of the Christ Child brings joy to our lives this Christmas Season. Even if we have been away from the Church, God is continually inviting us to dwell in his love and presence. Have you and your family been "away" from the Catholic Church? Is your family trying to find its way back? If so—then Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI) can help.
CMI is primarily for children who fit the following criteria: Children who are of school age and have not been baptized; Children who were baptized in another Christian tradition but wish to be members of the Catholic Church; Children who were baptized in the Catholic Church but have not received formal instruction in the faith and have not received the other Sacraments of Initiation (Holy Eucharist and Confirmation). Classes begin October 14.
The Catechumenate for Children/Teens, which is an Adaptation of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.), is the process by which unbaptized young people of the age of reason come into the Church. (Infant Baptism is only for those children under the age of reason.) Older children who are already baptized, but who are uncatechized, also can prepare to celebrate the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist together with their peers during the Easter Vigil or at a Rite of Full Communion.
Do you have an older child who has not been baptized? Do you have a son or daughter who is past the age of seven/eight who has not received First Communion? CMI at St. Hubert is designed for those children who are un-baptized or un-catechized. Together with their parents, children attend classes. Classes begin on October 14.
Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI) is a process for children 7 years of age or older. CMI is a vibrant part of the parish's welcoming and evangelical efforts for families wishing to learn more about becoming a Catholic Christian or reconnecting to the church. CMI provides families with the opportunities for religious education, prayer, service, and reception of the sacraments (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist).
Has expressed an interest in becoming Catholic? Has a child over the age of seven who has not been baptized? Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist? Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI) offers an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of the Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights, and your faith story in a warm accepting setting.

Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI) meets on Sunday Mornings. It is a two year sacramental process which is an adaptation of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults for children under the age of 18. It is open to both the un-baptized and to those who were baptized in the Catholic Church, but have missed the study and sacramental preparation offered in early grade school. It is also open to those baptized in other traditions. Regular attendance of both the child and at least one parent is expected.
