Established in 2017, the Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship Program is a vital initiative that has provided educational opportunities for tens of thousands of students in need across Illinois. At St. Hubert School, 24 scholarships have been provided to our students this year, totaling $130,925. The need is great, as 42 students remain on the waitlist. Without gaining an extension during the 2023 Fall Veto Session, the tax credit is set to expire in January 2024. As a result, thousands of Illinois children will no longer be able to attend the school of their choice. Please, take this opportunity to be a champion for our students and tell your lawmaker to be a champion for kids and extend the Tax Credit Scholarship Program. Scan the QR code or go to https://p2a.co/uR86Gyz. It only takes a minute!
Over Columbus Day weekend, a group of 8th graders and their parents spent the weekend in Washington, DC exploring memorials, museums and learning about the history of our country. Our students and parents were treated to a musical performance of Moana, courtesy of Ms. Cooper and our very talented students. What a wonderful way to end the week! Congratulations to our girls volleyball team, who defended their gym and brought home another win! Go Knights!!
As a faith community, may we continue to stand in support of those suffering silently, those secretly carrying the social stigma of abuse; those who feel isolated, alone, and so ashamed of what is happening that they find it just about impossible to share the pain of their abuse.
Human life is good and to be protected. All medical decisions ought to reflect this core belief. Yet some medical and legal documents used to define a patient’s future care can be harmful. It’s best to appoint a responsible, trustworthy person who understands and shares your Catholic values, and can apply them when the need arises.
Please join the unified parish of SS. Matthew & Hubert for an “Information Night" to pray together, learn about what is happening in our parish unification process, hear about how you can participate in next steps, and have time for a bit of Q&A. This will be offered at 4 PM at St. Matthew Church and 7 PM at St. Hubert Church—the information shared will be the same.
A few decisions have been made in consultation with the Unification Committee and the Parish Pastoral Staff that we can announce at this time. These decisions will hopefully help us to be a more unified community praying together and adoring Christ in the Eucharist as one parish. Our new Daily Mass Schedule will go into effect on Monday, November 6. Confession and Adoration change will go into effect on Wednesday November 8. Please read this article for complete details.
