The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process established for the universal Church for individuals to become Catholic and receive the Sacraments of initiation - Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Centered on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus and the Church he founded, this journey takes place through distinct phases over a period of time suitable for the participant, through weekly learning sessions, meeting the parish community, attending Mass and gaining an understanding of the moral life of the Catholic faithful. The RCIA process is a restoration of the ancient catechumenate, arising within the first three centuries following the era of the Apostles.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process in which an adult individual becomes Catholic and receives the sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. This journey takes place through catechesis, experience of the parish community and commitment to the life of the Catholic faithful. Our RCIA community is in desperate need of several individuals to serve as volunteers in our ministry. If you are feeling the call to share your time, we invite you to consider becoming a volunteer.
The RCIA/CMI Team would like to thank the sponsors, parish companions, Godparents, and family members who accompanied our new members on their faith journey. Your devotion has guided and supported them in their preparation.
How wonderful it was to celebrate Holy Week and Triduum. As Holy Week and Easter approached, I thought about this being my favorite time of the Church year and the wonderful rites of processing with palms, washing each other’s feet, adoring the cross, baptizing adults and older children, and bringing new family members into the faith I so love.
There will be a township presentation, a breakdown of senior services ad discounts available, followed by a brief intro to Medicare on Wednesday, April 19 from 6:30—7:30 PM at Schaumburg Township Office (1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates)

Elder abuse is a growing problem, affecting at least 1 in 10 older Americans. Abuse does escalate. If we can identify this behavior before it crosses over to criminal behavior, we can prevent it from causing irreparable damage. Caregivers need to obtain tools and support in order to have a positive outlook and avoid possible use of abuse.
Next weekend we celebrate Palm Sunday, a day that ushers in Holy Week. This day, that draws so many to Church, is called Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion. We are overfilled with Catholic Christians who carry home the palms that remind us of Jesus entering Jerusalem, hailed as King in glory.
