As part of his seminary formation experience, Ryan Brady will be here at St. Hubert Parish, full-time, from February 1 through the end of April. St. Hubert was selected by Mundelein Seminary as a Teaching Parish in 2017. Since then, Ryan, along with Deacon Tom Heathershaw and David Jameson, have been coming on weekends during the school year and have been engaged in parish ministry. The Pastoral Internship is an important time in a seminarian’s life where they experience first-hand everyday parish life.
You will see Ryan around the parish doing many things and getting lots of experience. If you haven’t already introduced yourself, please say hello. And, please pray for him! It’s one of the ways we can help provide the spiritual support he needs.
–Fr. Mike
My name is Ryan Brady and I’m in 2
nd Theology at Mundelein Seminary. I expect to be ordained in May of 2021. I’m from St. Christina Parish in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood of the southwest side of Chicago. I graduated from Marist High School in 2001 and from Loyola University Chicago in 2005. My first two years at Loyola, I studied at St. Joseph College Seminary.
Before entering Mundelein Seminary, I managed the Development Office of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. On Saturdays, I would serve as sacristan at Holy Name Cathedral. Both experiences gave me excellent perspectives on the Church. I was able to witness the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy daily. I was also very close to the Sacraments. Thanks to those two wonderful careers, and 14 years after leaving college seminary, I finally came to understand an unmistakable call of Jesus Christ to priesthood.
I’m very grateful to be continuing my seminary formation at St. Hubert Parish. From now until May, I will be living with Fr. Mike and serving full time in the parish. This opportunity is a great blessing! I look forward to growing closer to Jesus Christ with you and through you. My experience at St. Hubert will be an incredible experience, and what I learn during this internship will help me as a priest.
I want to be a holy and happy parish priest one day for you: the people of God. Please pray for me as we journey together over the next few months. There are many friendships that I know will grow stronger during my internship at St. Hubert. There are also many friendships that will begin. If we haven’t met, please stop me and say hello! Please know that it is my great joy and pleasure to pray with you and for you.
