It was a real blessing to have our seminarian, Ryan Brady, with us full-time as he went through his pastoral internship program over the last 3 months.
For our seminarians studying for the Archdiocese of Chicago, the pastoral internship takes place half-way through their theology program. It gives them an opportunity to see what it’s like to minister day-to-day at a parish, to live in a rectory, to be part of parish staff and school, to teach the faith, and to reflect on the word of God.
Ryan took this internship very seriously and applied himself every single
day. He has seen that life as a parish priest isn’t just about Sundays, but a
full life that brings us into the hearts and lives of the people we serve. And
that is a real privilege and blessing.
He also walks away with some incredible experiences of ministry, and a profound respect for all of you whom he has gotten to know, and with whom he has shared his faith.
Thank you for taking him in and making him feel at home in the way in which St. Hubert is known. As St. Paul says, “your kindness should be known to all.” (Phil 4:4).
What’s Next for Ryan?
Over the summer, Ryan will experience life as a hospital chaplain at Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago. Next fall, he returns to Mundelein Seminary where he’ll return to be with us on weekends, assigned to a specific weekly ministry. Next Spring, he’ll head to the Holy Land for a 10-week pilgrimage and then in May 2020, God willing, will be ordained a deacon.
In the meantime, please continue to pray for him. And please continue to ask God to call more men like Ryan to consider the priesthood and women to consider the religious life. We need “laborers for the harvest,” those with a true servant’s heart. Someone like Ryan Brady!
