Dear St. Hubert Parishioners, Friends, and Visitors,
The watchful waiting of Advent has become the joyful celebration of Christmas. In the birth of an innocent, pure and vulnerable baby, we find hope, love, joy, and peace—the very things only God can give.
We discover in His mysterious, unexpected, and unpredictable way, that in Jesus Christ God is truly with us.
So, on behalf of all of us on the parish staff, who feel so honored and blessed to serve this generous community of faith, and on behalf of Fr. Rizzo—our Pastor Emeritus—who gave himself so fully to this parish, we wish you and your family a blessed and Merry Christmas.
May the beauty of a silent and holy night embrace you and bring you comfort. God loves you abundantly and fully. He longs for nothing more than to be with you.
With peace in our hearts, and longing for peace in our world, Merry Christmas! May the new year ahead, be prosperous and blessed.
--Fr. Mike
Sharing Some Good News of Joy
St. Hubert is a generous parish, always eager to help those in need. But, there’s something good and important to share with you about how generous this community really is.
On page 8, you’ll read the good news that St. Hubert donated the most food items in the whole Archdiocese to help stock the Catholic Charities Food Pantries. This was all part of the Soup-er Stadium Challenge, which our St. Hubert School students took on with all their heart and soul. Together, with many other schools and parishes, we met the goals of the challenge—but also surpassed everyone’s expectations.
We’re grateful to our St. Hubert School students for all they did to coordinate the effort. And thank you to all of you who donated to this important cause—our parishioners, Religious Ed families and school families. We did it together.
We didn’t solve the problem of hunger in our communities; the issue is large and complex, but we did help families provide some meals to their children that they may not have been able to do otherwise.
So, as we celebrate Christmas, we also celebrate goodwill and what’s possible when we reach into our hearts with the simple desire to help others. What softened both Scrooge’s and The Grinch’s heart in those great Christmas stories—was kindness and the goodness that’s shared among people, something we learn from Christ.
Thank you for your kindness and goodness. Together, we helped feed the hungry.
