The pastoral care of the sick recognizes that sickness prevents people from attending the everyday activities of daily living. This can include attendance at Mass. At the same time, the sick person reminds the community of the sufferings of Jesus and the limitations of human life. Our concern for the sick mirrors that of Jesus, who visited and cared for the sick.
When a Minister to the Care visits those who are ill, we express the concern of the community as we share prayer and bring the Eucharist to those who are confined to home, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities.
With the growth of our parish, we have an increased need for ministers to serve those in nursing homes and our parishioners who are homebound. Please consider joining us in this important and rewarding ministry.
Basic 2 Week Training for Ministers of Care will be held at St. James Parish 820 N. Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights on two Saturdays, October 8
th & and October 15
th from 8:30 AM—3:00 PM. There is no cost to attend these sessions.
