Join our St. Hubert Catholic School students as we crown Mary in a special service.
In a long-time tradition at our school, our 8
th grade students selected Grace Kronfeld to crown Mary. Here is an excerpt of an essay she wrote on how our Blessed Mother has influenced her life:
Mary was an exceptional person. She openly accepted her calling to be the mother of Jesus, and trusted fully in God.
Two years ago, my great grandma passed away. She was a really special person in my life and it was very hard for me when she passed away. One thing that I will never forget about her is the gold Mary necklace that she always wore. She NEVER took it off. Since then, I had a necklace made with the flowers from her funeral. On one side it has [an image of] Jesus, but on the other side it has [an image of] Mary. When I wear the necklace, I wear it with the Mary side showing. I felt that Mary protects me through all I do [when I ask her to pray for me] just like she did for my great grandma.
Mary fully trusted in God, and that is something that I started to do more after my great grandma passed away. Mary is someone that has really helped me through a difficult time in my life. She is someone that all people should look up to because she is a very relatable person. She is a person like you and me, and if we all follow her example, our world could be a much better place.
I want to be more like Mary because of how she was able to put all of her trust in someone she couldn’t see. It is hard for me to trust people, because I want to make sure they are nice and trustworthy. A few years ago, I wanted to think that I would have made the choice Mary did when asked to be the mother of Jesus, but I really didn’t know. I wanted to be able to put all my trust in God. But in the past few years, I know that I have.
Mary has greatly impacted my life in many ways. She has taught me so much, and I know that I can turn to her whenever I need her. Without her, I wouldn’t be the same person I am today.
