Have you been sick at home or in the hospital and had Communion brought to you by a parish minister? Have you heard a relative in a nursing home tell you how much she appreciates the Communion Service conducted by visitors from the local parish? Have you visited a friend in the hospital and found a card there from a Minister of Care announcing that he had been there to bring Communion?
Visits such as these are wonderful boosts to the spirits of the sick and homebound. Through the Ministry of Care, communion is available to them whether they are homebound, hospitalized, or in nursing homes. Given the growing number of residents in local nursing homes, requests we receive for visits to the homebound and changes in the lives of our Ministers of Care, we need to expand our Ministry of Care group. If you can join us in this ministry, we guarantee you will find it extremely rewarding.
Topics include:
¨ Spirituality of the Ministry
¨ Prayer in Care Ministry
¨ Pastoral Communication Skills
¨ Ministerial Procedures
¨ Experience of Suffering
¨ Theology of the Eucharist
If you can join us in this ministry, we guarantee you will find it extremely rewarding. Training for Ministers of Care consists of two Saturdays, March 11 and March 18 9:00 AM—3:00 PM. Training will be held at St. Francis De Sales Parish in Lake Zurich.
