God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
Who is a Parish Catechist?
A parish catechist responds to a call by the Holy Spirit, is trained and commissioned by the parish community to directly empower others with the truths and mysteries of our Catholic faith. Adults, adolescents, and children all may find their spiritual formation entrusted to the catechist. The ministry of a catechist occurs within parish and school settings focusing on formation in the Catholic faith.
Catechists are . . .
Men, Women, Teens, Young adults, Retirees, Faith-filled, In love with Christ's message
Catechists lead . . .
Religious Education at all levels, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA),
Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI), Baptism Ministry, Marriage Preparation and Enrichment, Prayer
Parents and interested parishioners can play a very important role assisting the catechetical
ministry of sharing the Catholic faith with our youth in Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI).
The catechists need your support and “hands on” assistance to bring a full learning environment to all of our youth. We are looking for help on Sunday mornings from 8:45—10:15 AM. If you are interested in supporting CMI, please contact Marie Staffa at
