When we ask that you bring in food, we are asking for your help to feed the homeless or those who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads.
Have you ever seen a homeless person? You may have seen one on a corner in Chicago, but are they really in need? Some make more money then we do on our jobs.
Yesterday I passed by a man walking near my house. As he passed I said “hi,” he said “hi” without lifting up his head, he just moved the bag he was carrying from one shoulder to the other... Soon another person shuffled down the sidewalk carrying a bag too. That's when I realized these people must be homeless. They had on winter coats on a spring day. No one does this except people who have nowhere to put their belongings. They carry everything they own.
This is the reason we ask for your help, to help bring hope to those who feel hopeless. We are asked to give food to nourish the body, but who helps nourish with spiritual food?
