Brought to you by St. Hubert Domestic Violence Outreach Ministry—
It seems that for some families, the holidays tend to bring out the worse in others. You may think maybe it’s the stress, the financial strains, or the over indulgence that may be true for some. However, much of the domestic violence that takes place in a home is a power struggle to control others.
Neither alcohol nor stressful situations cause domestic violence. It is a result of abusers imposing their expectations on their partners, regardless of the time of year. Domestic violence doesn’t take a holiday.
It happens to people of every educational and socioeconomic level.
It happens in all races, religions, and age groups.
It happens in both heterosexual and same-sex relationships.
If you or someone you know is being abused, seek help today. In an emergency, please dial 911. For all other help, please call: Illinois Statewide Domestic Violence Helpline 877 TO END DV (877-863-6338), 877-863-6339 TTY
