Over the past several months, a number of children with their families have become a part of Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI). On Sunday, May 21 at the 9:00 AM Mass Anthony and Alexia Trejo, who are unbaptized, will make their intention to the Church that they want to be a full-initiated member of the Catholic faith. In celebrating this Rite of Welcoming, from this point on, they will be called a catechumen.
Five children in CMI are baptized Catholics and they are preparing for the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. They are Alex Christian, Michael Chudzik, Dustin Pasia, Jaikimo Plaza, and Sebastian Reivera. They will make public their intention to continue sacramental preparation in CMI. From this point on these children, who are already baptized, will be called candidates.
As part of our mission, the entire community is called upon to welcome and support these children in their formation and discernment. It will be our duty to pray for them and with them throughout the year in the liturgy — especially in the Rite of Sending for Election and Continuing Conversion, in the early spring of 2018, and during the Rites of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil in 2018. We will be asked to help them learn about our faith in the traditions of our Church. Thanks for joining us in prayer as they make this important step on their journey of faith.
