Family #30 Our mom continues her focus on finding a better paying job. She is interested in pursuing a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant or a personal assistant. The State of Illinois offers a WIOA program to achieve a training certificate which would be at no cost to her through the unemployment office. She is still very excited about finally earning her high school diploma.
She has still not received her IRS refund and is waiting for a response. New Hope is evaluating her case to see if she can get assistance for 3 additional months after her lease ends, as she continues to work towards her self-sufficiency goals.
Goals:
Save up at least 3 month’s rent/saving IRS tax refund
Obtain her GED
Apply for low income housing
Family #31 Our mom’s car continues to be a challenge for her, as it now needs another repair. These repairs dip into her savings and she cannot depend on it for transportation to and from work. She went back to her previous job in Schaumburg due to her lack of dependable transportation, which made her very happy, since she had been spending $90 per day on an Uber to get to the Vernon Hills job. It also cut down on the time that she was able to spend with her children because of the distance. New Hope is also evaluating her case to assist for an additional three months after her lease ends. She reports that she would like to move closer to work.
Goals:
Save up at least 3 month’s rent/saving IRS tax refund
Attend work and school as scheduled
Apply for low income housing
Repair car
Relocate closer to employment after lease
These two families are very grateful to be a part of the Peace and Justice extended family. New Hope is also very grateful for all the assistance and resources you provide for our families.
