A Transitional Housing Program for Homeless Families August, 2018 Update
Family #30: Our family consists of a mom and her two sons ages 4 and 2.
We are happy to report our mom is doing great! She loves her new job as a CNA assistant working 4 days per week and rotating weekends. This job will pay for her CNA certification after 90 days of employment. The children are doing well. Her youngest child failed the hearing test at the doctor and at school and needs to see an audiologist. He also needs glasses. She is focused on addressing his needs so he excels and feels confident at school.
Goals:
● Save up at least 3 month’s rent
● Obtain a CNA certificate and new job
● Apply for low income housing
Family #31: This family consists of a 24 year old female and her two sons ages 7 and 5.
Our mom is currently experiencing some setbacks. She was let go from her job because she had to bring her kids with her to work on two occasions due to a lack of dependable child care. She has had a difficult time over the last couple months between work and her transportation issues. She has a job interview for a customer service representative position. She is excited because it might be more manageable than her previous job. She has applied for other state assistance programs to get her through this time of transition. She feels very fortunate to still be with New Hope while she is going through this tough time.
Goals:
● Save up at least 3 month’s rent
● Attend work and school as scheduled
● Apply for low income housing
New Hope and these two families are very grateful to be a part of the Peace and Justice Cluster Parishes!
