Hi, my name is Lee Krizka. My wife and I and our four children have been parish members since 1967.
I would like to thank Father Mike for giving me the opportunity to make this appeal. As you may have heard, there will be a blood drive here next weekend. For those of you who have given regularly, I would like to thank you, and for those who have not given yet I hope you will consider doing so this time.
One of the reasons for suggesting that you give blood is because of an illness called MDS (Mylo Dysplastic Syndrome). Several years ago I was diagnosed with this disease. What it means, basically, is that my bone marrow does not produce enough red blood cells to keep me going. So at least once a week I need to have a blood transfusion.
So far, I have had over 100 units of blood. Without this life giving source I would not be with you today but I pray that with your help, I will be with you for many days to come.
There are many more people who need blood on a regular basis for a variety of reasons, not only those who have MDS.
To be sure that the blood supply continues, please consider donating blood at our blood drive next week.
