August 21, 2022Fr. Jeremy Thomas of Church of the Holy Spirit, Fr. Tony Bury of St. Marcelline, Fr. Joseph Glab of St. Matthew and I met with Fr. Jason Malave of the Renew My Church team for two afternoons this week to go through the Priest Leadership Program. It was a way to come together and talk about the needs, hopes and desires of our four parishes as we enter into the Renew My Church Process. It was a real blessing, but not something new to the four of us. Throughout the past year we’ve been meeting socially each month to get to know each other better, to talk about our parishes, and to build relationships.
On Thursday, all the pastors of the final wave of Renew My Church parishes (about 10 in all) met with Cardinal Cupich to hear his perspectives. Later that day, all of our parish’s “Grouping Feedback and Discernment Teams” (the teams that represent our parishes) met online with the Cardinal to pray with him and talk about the important task ahead.
Our first meeting of the four parishes will be Monday, August 22. The official name of our grouping is “The Hoffman Estates-Schaumburg Community”. We will keep you posted as we go through the process—something we do together as a community of faith.
