According to the National Institute of Health, in a given year about one in four people have a diagnosable mental disorder, such as depression, bi-polar disease, and schizophrenia, among others. The Bishops of California recently wrote, “Christ calls us to attend to those who suffer from mental illness and provide hope and healing.” Chancellor Dan Welter and other deacons of the Archdiocese of Chicago have developed a program in response to this need.
